A Great Night at the NETTP PAC Fundraiser Dinner!

What a great evening we had at our Endorsement/Fundraising Dinner!  So many loyal patriots came to support the PAC’s endorsements and to hear Former Leader and current Chairman of FreedomWorks, Dick Armey.  The candidates didn’t disappoint in their speeches and Dick Armey was EXCELLENT!  What a humble and principled man he is.  It was the perfect keynote speaker for these candidates to hear and aspire to.  It was a fun and informative evening and everyone is pumped up about sending these candidates to the state legislature!  If you missed it, here’s a glimpse of last night:

NE Tarrant Tea Party PAC

NE TARRANT TEA PARTY PAC IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE ITS ENDORSEMENTS FOR THE May 29th  PRIMARY

 - Our country faces difficult choices and serious problems that require capable leadership. Fortunately, accomplished candidates have stepped forward to confront these daunting challenges. The NE Tarrant Tea Party PAC enthusiastically supports the candidacies of Stephanie Klick, Jonathan Stickland, Matt Krause, Giovanni Capriglione, Mark Shelton and Kelly Hancock. We believe these candidates reflect the core values of limited government, fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility and rule of law.

Concerned citizens exercising common sense and good judgment discovered the merits of joining Tea Party groups to return fiscal responsibility and sound management principles to government. The nation’s Founders clearly believed that for the Republic to prosper and freedom to prevail, an educated electorate must choose principled people to occupy the important offices of the land. The NE Tarrant Tea Party PAC has identified worthy candidates that have the necessary experience, training, proven virtue and wisdom to restore fiscal stability to Texas and establish an economic climate conducive to responsible growth and prosperity.

A primary election is the first and most important step in the process of electing a candidate to office. This is when each vote counts the most and provides the ability to select the candidate that best represents the values of conservatism. The Texas primary election day has finally been set and is scheduled for May 29th, 2012.

Texas Senate:

Kelly Hancock (District 9)

Mark Shelton (District 10)

Texas House:

Stephanie Klick (District 91)

Jonathan Stickland (District 92)

Matt Krause (District 93)

Giovanni Capriglione (District 98)

From the Candidates…

Texas State Senate, District 9:

Kelly Hancock

“The numbers show that government has grown faster than population and inflation, and we must learn to reduce the size of government.”

“You cannot spend what you do not have. Revenue figures show us that the state is bringing in enough revenue. It is our expenditures that are growing beyond a sustainable level, and we are going to have to do without programs that are outside of our state’s necessity.”

“I do not believe that a student’s physical street address should determine where they are required to attend school. I believe that when we empower others, including parents and students, we encourage them to succeed, and when we take away their ability to choose we take some of that power away.”

Texas State Senate, District 10:

Mark Shelton

“It is time to return fiscally and socially conservative leadership to Senate District 10 and bring a pragmatic approach toward government back to Tarrant County.”

“Government, much like responsible individuals, must learn to live within its means.”

“At the state level, we need to stay the course by balancing the budget without raising taxes or violating the integrity of the Rainy Day Fund.”

Texas State House, District 91:

Stephanie Klick

“We need to cut spending. We can begin by eliminating waste and fraud in the budget.”

“Our nation is at a critical time. Government has gotten too big and it costs too much.”

“Liberals see government as the solution to all our problems, while conservatives view government as the cause of many of our problems.”

Texas State House, District 92:

Jonathan Stickland

“As state representative it is my duty to put the people of my district first. The federal government continues to shove laws, regulations and agenda at us that we know is not in our best interest. I will consider it my duty to stand strong against Washington on any issue that does not benefit my constituents and other fellow Texans.”

“As conservative Republicans we must draw a line in the sand and say ‘no more.’ ”

“I intend to go to Austin to fight for limited government and a return to the constitutional role of governance.”

Texas State House, District 93:

Matt Krause

“We must have representatives who are willing to make the hard decisions and who can offer responsible and effective measures to get our fiscal house in order.”

“Zero-based budgeting would allow Texas to take a careful look at all the places it is spending money and use those funds more efficiently.”

“The Rainy Day Fund should not be used to bail out the bad decisions of the legislature.”

Texas State House, District 98:

Giovanni Capriglione

“We should always consider cuts in spending before tapping the Rainy Day Fund. I would support a constitutional amendment requiring that the Rainy Day Fund be used only to balance current-year shortfalls so the dollars cannot be used to grow government.”

“The federal government has refused to follow through on their responsibility to secure our border. As a result Texas must fill in the gap. We can’t wait for D.C. to fix a problem they refuse to address. We must continue to provide resources to our border in order to protect our economy and curb the flow of illegal immigration.”

“A shortfall in the budget must be countered with additional cuts, a push to opt out of the Medicaid program, bring it in state, and provide a pro-growth business strategy.”

Dear NETTP Memb…

February 22, 2012

Dear NETTP Members,

Your Political Action Committee has completed its work in researching and interviewing all of the candidates that have filed for legislative seats in our area.  Now we just need to know who is running against who and where.  We are hoping that the state officials and the courts get this figured out soon!

If you are staying close to our state’s redistricting saga, you know that two of the three district maps (state house and congressional) are still in dispute while the state senate map has been agreed upon.  The process in determining the remaining maps is unclear, but we have been told by the U.S District court in San Antonio that the earliest date that Texas will have its primary is May 29th.

While this delay is frustrating for everyone involved (including our PAC), some say that the extra campaigning time provides a benefit to challengers who seek to unseat entrenched, RINO incumbents.  We hope so!

To us, it means that we must push back our dates for making endorsements and for holding our Candidate Dinner.  The original March 3rd date will be postponed, and we will wait for the maps to be finalized before setting a new date.  We will send out an update as soon as that happens.

As we wait, please consider helping us help our candidates.  It takes a surprising amount of money to run an effective race for the legislature, and these folks need our support.  We are only 25% of the way to our fundraising goal so please go to www.nettppac.com and consider making a donation.  You can also buy your Candidate Dinner tickets there.

It’s 2012!  Let’s make a difference!

NETTP PAC UPDATE

January 24th, 2012

Dear NE Tarrant Tea Party Members,

By now, you probably know that the U.S. Supreme Court found in favor of The State of Texas’ claim that the lower, district court overstepped its authority by redrawing our legislative and congressional maps.  The original maps were drawn by a legislature that was elected by the citizens of Texas and so we believe that this finding (which was unanimous) was a very positive step in the direction of forcing our government back into the boundaries of the Constitution.

Now, our congressional and legislative maps are back in the hands of that same District Court which has been instructed by SCOTUS to find a remedy which does not abuse its authority.  Everyone involved hopes that they act swiftly so that the political picture can become clearer and so the process can move forward.

Meanwhile, the NETTP PAC has not allowed the court induced confusion to stand in the way of our candidate vetting.  We are making good progress at researching and interviewing the candidates that are vying for the seven Legislative districts (four State House and four State Senate) in which we will be making endorsements.  This process has revealed two realities that stand out to the PAC members.

1.    Some of the GOP candidates running for these seats (mostly incumbents) call themselves conservatives; yet they are afraid to be vetted by a Tea Party organization that has established conservative views.
2.    We have some candidates running (mostly challengers) that are so good, that if elected, they could have a significant and positive impact on the outcome of the 83rd Legislature.

Think about the very real possibility that we could be proud of what Tarrant County legislators are doing in Austin rather than being embarrassed.

  DONATE NOW

These Candidates need our help!  In most cases they are running against establishment opponents that are much better funded and who have the support of the RINOs in Austin.  If the good ones are to pull off an upset, we must get them the reinforcements (campaign funds) that they need to get their messages out.  You can now make a NETTP PAC donation on line by clicking the link above.  Please help us if you can.

 SAVE THE DATE

We are confident that in the coming weeks, we will know who is running against who and where.  Because of this we believe that March 3rd is a safe date for us to highlight our endorsements and to hold our candidate dinner.  Please mark this on your calendar and we will confirm this and provide more details as things develop.

It’s 2012!  Let’s make a difference!

NEWS FROM NETTP’S PAC…

December 9, 2011

Dear NE Tarrant Tea Party Members,

As you may know, a U.S. Federal Court has meddled in our state’s business and has revised the legislative maps that were drawn by a duly elected legislature.  Subsequent to this, Greg Abbott (Texas’ Attorney General) filed a challenge to the U.S. Supreme court which has yet to be taken up.  In spite of this confusion, your Political Action Committee is moving forward with its work.

We are currently in the process of getting answers back to some of the very tough questions that are included in our Candidate Questionnaire.  You should know that some candidates are more willing to participate than others.  You can probably guess which ones might not like being vetted by a Tea Party PAC. Can you say RINO?  None the less, all GOP candidates in the seven state legislative districts which touch the NETTP cities (House Districts 91, 92, 98 and 101 and Senate Districts 9, 10 and 12) will have an opportunity to vie for our endorsement.

We will follow up their written responses with personal interviews and historical research so that we can feel comfortable that we have all the information necessary to make the best choices.  We plan to have all of this work done by the end of January so that we can be ready for a February 1st release of our list of endorsements.

One of the things that we have already learned is that we have some terrific candidates in these races.  It is very easy to get excited about the prospect of sending some of these folks to Austin so that they can fight the political fight for us.  These are going to be very tough primaries, however.  It takes money to beat an entrenched incumbent and they will need our help.

Our goal is to raise $4,000 which will be divided evenly among the candidates that we endorse.  We hope to raise a big part of this at a fundraising dinner that we will be hosting on Saturday, February 4th.  We are planning a fun event that will also give you an opportunity to get to know our candidates.  Please mark your calendars and watch for further details.

We do not think that we can reach our whole goal at this dinner alone, so if you can, help us now.  We hope to be able to accept donations via credit / debit cards soon, but for now, you will need to send us a check to the address below.  Also, please fill in the information on the form below (legally required for all PAC donations), and include it with your check.

Thank you, and have a Merry Christmas!

Phil Burton

NETTP Introduces NETTP Political Action Committee!

October 25, 2011

Over the past two and a half years, NETTP has grown in size and influence in the political scene of North Texas.  Our grassroots organization is an all-volunteer group promoting our core principles of:

  • Limited Government
  • Fiscal Responsibility
  • Personal Responsibility
  • Rule of Law
  • National Sovereignty

Up to this point, we have promoted these principles by doing everything possible to educate voters about issues and candidates, but our charter has not allowed us to endorse specific candidates or ballot initiatives.  We, as an organization, have had to remain neutral in important elections. This is about to change!

NETTP has created the NETTP PAC, which is a separate organization but is made up of our tea party members.  Our PAC will endorse and promote those candidates that best represent our core principles.  We believe that this is the next logical step in making a positive difference in our government.

All of us on the PAC Board are newcomers to political activism, like most people in the tea party movement, so we have decided to start small.  Our mission in 2012 is to pick the best qualified candidates in the seven State House and Senate races that touch the NETTP market area and support them in the Republican primary.

Our endorsement alone should help a more conservative candidate in his/her efforts to beat an entrenched RINO incumbent, but we want to do more.  We want our endorsement to also include an equal share of the money that we raise in the lead-up to the March primary.  Our goal is to raise $4,000, which will allow us to give $500 to each candidate and use the rest for promotion.  We are counting on our membership to help us do this.

Please donate today by making out a check to NETTP PAC and mailing it to our treasurer’s address below.
